More Local Colour

A reliable location for interesting subject matter is to be found in the back streets around Bastille, between Rue de Charenton, Rue Ledru-Rolin (quite a mouthful for the struggling language-learner) and the Promenade Plantée.

There are so many interesting small shops and businesses – as well as the fruit and veg market of course - and many a colourful/ dodgy character too, depending on your world view. (My recent Reynard avec Beret Rouge was one who didn’t get away!)

Best of all, the shutters of the vividly-painted Capucine were finally open today, to reveal a very eclectic collection of brocante (bric-a-brac) and there, waiting for me in the vitrine was my vibrant Velo du Jour!
